5 Places I Love to Eat in Amsterdam

After living in Amsterdam for several years, I’ve discovered some truly great places to eat — cozy spots, tasty bites, and family-friendly vibes. Here are 5 of my favorite places to grab a meal in the city — places I go back to again and again, and that always hit the spot!

Be sure to make a reservation in advance! Many of these spots are popular and can fill up quickly, especially on weekends!

1. Corner Bakery

The look on my daughter Ella’s face when she saw their over-the-top milkshakes? Priceless. They're like a mountain of everything sweet and colorful you can imagine. If you're joining my drawing tour at the Rijksmuseum — good news: it's right nearby!Besides the milkshakes, they also serve delicious sandwiches, pancakes, big brunch plates, and great coffee. 📍Johannes Vermeerstraat 40, 1071 DS Amsterdam

2. Bakers & Roasters

This all-day breakfast café in De Pijp has one of the most satisfying menus in the city — sweet, savory, and even vegan options.Every dish is a hit, and don’t even get me started on their cakes! It’s the kind of place where you want to try everything on the menu.

📍De Pijp Eerste Jacob van Campenstraat 54 1072 BH Amsterdam📍City Center Kadijksplein 16 1018 AC Amsterdam

3. Albert Cuyp Market

Also in De Pijp, this is Amsterdam’s most famous street market — and a foodie’s dream! You’ll find Dutch poffertjes (mini pancakes), fresh herring, Greek street food, Asian snacks, and so much more.My personal favorite: the dim sum stand — so good! The market is open Monday to Saturday (closed on Sundays).

4. Zero Zero

Hands down, the best Italian sandwiches in town!Made fresh with amazing meats, cheeses, creamy pesto, and creative combos that will totally surprise you. It’s a small spot, but the flavors are big. Definitely worth a stop for lunch!

5. SUE Bites Bar

Looking for something sweet without the sugar crash? SUE serves guilt-free treats — no refined sugar, but full of flavor. You’ll find raw cakes, bites, bars, and plant-based snacks that feel indulgent but are totally wholesome.Great for a coffee break or to grab something healthy on the go.

📍Elandsgracht 4H, 1016 TV Amsterdam
